Welcome to Night Photography!

Night Photography is a niche skill. It not only requires lot of patience but also requires a good level of understanding of the equipment and it's use. As such, since it's so dark that the camera doesn't know where to focus. There are multiple lighting techniques which can be used for such situations and camera settings vary as per the technique used. Come and join my workshop and I will teach you all those without any restrictions.

What will you learn in the workshop:

  • Finding the elusive Milky Way in the night sky

  • Planning a Star Trail or Milky Way shot

  • Focusing the camera in dark

  • How to capture Star Trails and Milky Way

  • Camera settings to capture stunning Milky Way pictures.

  • Lighting techniques - use of natural light and artificial lighting

  • Post processing Milky Way raw photographs

  • Special Tips and Techniques

Recommended  Camera Gear

  • Sturdy tripod with a 360 degree adjustable ballhead

  • Digital SLR or Mirrorless Camera Body. We recommend full-frame cameras for night photography.

  • Backpack to carry your camera gear

  • Wide Angle Lens (full frame equivalent): 16-35mm range, wider the better! I recommend lens be f/2.8 or faster for night photography.

  • Extra batteries, memory cards, and cleaning supplies.

  • Remote cord for your camera.

  • Headlamp for night photography (should have a red light on it)

  • Laptop (for post processing session) with the latest Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Starstax software.


Personal Gear List

  • Sturdy hiking footwear, hiking socks, and long pants (keeps sand out of your shoes).

  • Hiking poles or stick if you have balance issues.

  • Warm layers, warm jacket, hat, gloves and a rain jacket.

  • Bug repellent

  • Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Sun Hat, Water bottle and snacks 

  • Camping Chair

  • Lot of patience 

Cost

  • Private session - $699 for two nights (around 7 hours on field and 2 hours of post processing) per participant

  • Small Group session (Group of 2 participants or 3 if within same friends / family) - $499 for two nights (around 7 hours on field and 2 hours of post processing) per participant

50% payable to hold the spot for the workshop and rest to be paid 1 week before the workshop

In case of cancellation after booking, the amount paid shall be withheld for a session at some other date. 

Travel costs including accommodation, food and gas are additional.
